why would god create a species of animals and then completely destroy them or allow them to be destroyed.
would he do that to humans too?.

This could actually apply to any animal species that has become extinct because of the natural forces.
as an animal lover, i have some questions jws have never dared to breach (according to a search of jw publications).
if humans die because of inheriting adam and eve's sin, why do animals die?
were animals created imperfect?.
Hey Exekial3: You ask the question what is the difference between humans and animals. I was always taught that being made in God's image is what makes us different, and sin is what makes us no better than the animals, hence we suffer the same fate. I dont know how true that statement is, after all I will only live for a short period of time in the never ending stream on knowledge and understanding. I imagine most of us will never know the truth about the origin of life and death. Maybe we cant handle the truth. :)
Another interesting thread I would love to see is about dinosaurs. Why would God create a species of animals and then allow them to be destroyed. Obviously man did not destroy them. Maybe I will start that thread. I think I will.

I would like to see interviews with officials at the UN and the WTS. Obviously the letter the WTS published and the letter the UN published conflict with each other. It sure would make for some interesting dialog.
The WTS is just waiting for this to "just go away".
At present I think many JWs still go to the door and when confronted with the UN issue deny that it is even true. I know I would have until I found this website and did some of my own research. Which was taboo. I mean, when I was researching this topic on the internet, I felt as if I was doing something wrong, only because of being counseled over and over that the Interenet was full of lies. So there I was...researching truth....feeling guilty. Whats wrong with that picture?

The mental state of a JW is incredible.
We are taught not to mourn excessively over a person so as to forget where we stand in the scheme of things. A sister in our congregation lost her baby girl at age 2. Another sister was commenting on how this sister's service time and meeting attendence dropped. I was like, "Didnt her baby die" and this pioneer sister snapped at me something like, "That was a couple of years ago". As if there was a time limit on grief. At the congregation level we are constantly being judged by our brothers and sisters.
Obedience is the order of the day. Any deviation from what we are counseled on might cause excessive gossip or even counsel from a brother. It is fear of our brothers and sisters that keep us from being human, and fear of reprimand. Fear rules.
You are right, our natural inclination to show love for one another and our fellow human is supressed and we are redressed/reconditioned to show love the WTS way, which is to not let anything stand in the way of field service recruitment.

One thing I have always felt was missing with the JW's organization, is the lack of service to those in need of physical things.
The only gifts of mercy and kindness that we are encouraged to give is to be more involved in the preaching work. Apparently the only gift we are suppose to give is to recruit more members to the WT$. In the last couple of years I started reaching out more to help those in the world who need physical things. It has not always been easy but it has been rewarding. I received my good share of critism and concern from others in the congregation. It only served to push me away further.
One day I was driving home from work I listened to one of those "other religions". Anyway, the person hosting the program did make some good points with the following scripture Galations 5:22.
On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.
I no longer let anybody in the congregation tell me how to express my love to fellow humans.
Reminds me of a story about a brother whose biological sister was dying of cancer. She had less than a year to live and she asked her brother if he could raise her child after she died. Apparently he was the only one in her family associated with the organization and she wanted to make certain her child would be raised within these teachings. He told her no. His reason was that he would not be able to pioneer if he had to raise a child. What love!
You just go ahead and enojoy your gifts to man. Remember God says there is no law against such things.

I think that he means they anticipate 32,000 over the next 5 weekends. The Conventions I attended usually had over 8,000 in attendence. Multiply that by 5 and you get about 40,000.
Who gets the 1.8 million?

shortly thereafter, sister sweetiepie calls on my daughter and sets up a weekly study and leaves her with wt mags.. not even an hour has passed and my daughter is shopping and another sister, "sister blabbermouth" spots her and says, "i heard the good news" gives her more magazines (she's just found a place to dump more mags) and then asks her, "why didnt you ask your mom for a study?

AAAAAAAAARGH!!! Do the words "None of your business mean anything to you?"
She then lied to my daughter and told her that she had been planning to come by my house and drop off some mags from the convention, but hadn't gotten around to it. Hmmmmmm...the convention has been over for about a month now and sister blabbermouth lives down the street and passes my house at least 3 times a day. What a lie!
My daughter has been alongside me in the organization since she was 2. She wanted out by the time she was 15. For the last 5 years we have gotten really close and she has opened up about her feelings. Then I take a step back for air and she wants back in.
Its amazing how fast the gossip circle turns within the "Pioneer Women's Network (PWN)". Plus my daughter is already an emotional wreck from the WT org. I dont know what to do at this point. But I do plan to tell sister sweetie pie that if my daughter becomes suicidal because a group of stuckup gossip mongers determine that she is not progressing fast enough or try to lay guilt trips on her, Hell and fury will rain down so fast.
I guess while they pump their half-truth in her, I will have to provide her with the other half of the hidden truths.
well a jw at my work is taking a day off work to play in a golf tournament to win money.
he has to pay $60 to enter and can win up to $2500.. now i said that is really like gambling and he said he checked it out and it wa ok, so i asked if he had asked an elder and he said he looked on the disk.. so i need any info from the bible and publications that will prove him wrong so i can council him next week!.

Personally, I dont think he is really doing anything wrong. Some places require registration fees. The reward for winning is not a gamble of chance but of skill. What about those Williams sisters that play tennis. I am sure they dont play Wimbleton for free do they. I imagine a registration fee is required. Those girls are JWs right?
One of the things that I have come to terms with is although the Borg has offered suggestions or even stern recommendations through the years on certain matters it was our over-bearing mentor's conscience that enforced the rules.
I dont think there is anything wrong with gambling unless a person becomes so hooked that they put their family's needs on the line. Hey i slammed 5 bucks on the 290 mil lottery 2 weeks ago. I dont play all the time, but when the pot gets that big, who can resist? Can I get DFed for that? That would be lame if I could.
i may be late in seeing this special on the history channel, but did anyone else see this show.
it was about books being banned from the bible that further explains events that may or may not have happened the way it is written in the bible.
this show peaked my curiousity and i went to the library and found the book who wrote the bible?
And that is that both Paul and John, the major contributors to the NT never were supposed to have died, but would live on throughout the ages until Jesus returned during the 20th century at the second coming. That's way too hard for some to believe but some of the anointed are actually aware of some of these surviving ancient ones

I have a pretty vivid imagination....imagine what it would be like to have lived for the past 2000 years. You could say that you saw just about everything. I wonder if you would be happy that you never died or if you would sit around thinking life sucked.

The Jackpot was 290 mil. Sucks she only got 117 out of that.
Anyway, I would pay off my mortgage, buy a new sports car for my hubby, his dream car, buy a new dream house, buy houses for my two grown children, pay of my sisters debt and buy her family a house, maybe even give her a million, set up trust funds for all my grandchildren and my 2 year old. Hmmmm, I would get a swimming pool in my backyard of my new dream house, I would start my bed and breakfast dream job. ( I always wanted to do that) Of course, I would hire other people to run it, I would just take care of the herb and flower gardens and decorate.
Gosh...I could just dream about that all day. Me and my hubby were dreaming about it the night of the drawing. We played five bucks....Hey can I get disfellowshipped for that?
